Distinguished Speaker:

Professor Richard A. Falk, is Albert G. Milbank Professor of International Law and Practice at Princeton University and was a Visiting Distinguished Professor in Global and International Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (2001–04). He retired from teaching in 2001.

He is a member of the Editorial Boards of The Nation and The Progressive, and Chair of the Board of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. He is a former advisory board member of the World Federalist Institute and the American Movement for World Government. During 1999–2000, Prof. Falk worked on the Independent International Commission on Kosovo. He is the author or co-author of 20 books and the editor or co-editor of another 20 volumes, In 2008, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) appointed Falk to a six-year term as a United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. He is an independent scholar and political activist and has been variously criticized by U.S. ambassador Susan Rice and Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon for his positions on Israel and the September 11 attacks.
