About the Author: Dr. Ayra Indrias Patras is Assistant Professor at Forman Christian College University,
Lahore. She focuses on gender, politics, and minority rights. Her writings have been published in national
dailies and occasionally in academic journals too. She carries grassroots experience of designing and
implementing women welfare projects. She is engaged with Women Action Forum, a women rights platform
in Pakistan, voicing against patriarchal prejudices and violence against women. Based on Ayra’s doctoral
dissertation, which investigated the intersections of gender, caste and labor producing multiple disadvantages
for women, Folio Books has just published this book. The book critically describes and analyses the histories
and structural forces that shape Christian communities as religious minorities and oppressed caste
communities.
