Dr. Akhtar Abbas is Acting Director of Surface Water in Water Policy Department of Water, Government of Australia. After graduating from University of Agriculture Faisalabad, he was awarded scholarship by the French Government for the Master of Engineering Program at Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He completed his PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Ibaraki University, Japan. He has also completed a post-doc in the field of remote sensing and GIS in Japan.
Dr. Akhtar has extensive interdisciplinary research and policy experience and has contributed to academia, research and water policy. He has extensive working experience in Australia, Japan, Thailand and Pakistan. He has shared his work at international conferences and published in the fields of water management and environmental sustainability.
