WHY CHOOSE CPPG

The academic programs at the CPPG draw upon faculty expertise to help students require knowledge of the world focusing on the problems faced by the multicultural states in their struggles to establish federal parliamentary/presidential regimes. South Asia is one of the most complex and fascinating regions of the world, and the teaching imparted at the CPPG enables students to address crucial political, economic and social issues confronting us in the twenty first century. The programs are multi- disciplinary and innovative, designed to equip students with qualitative as well as quantitative research methods along with hands on management skills to prepare them for a demanding public policy career in this age of national development and globalization. Additionally, appropriate Information Technology and Management skills are integrated into these programs to bring about attitudinal change and develop professional expertise for efficient, judicious and transparent policy implementation through E-Governance.

Alumni Networking

The CPPG Alumni body is small but already making waves in policy circles. A total of 81 students have successfully graduated from the Executive Master program and 31 from the M-Phil program so far.These include members of the civil and armed services, development professionals working in national and international organizations, technology and strategy consultants, aspiring politicians, medical doctors, lawyers, bankers, journalists, independent businessmen and academics.

CPPG has a small but outstanding faculty with varied research interests and diverse backgrounds. From highly accomplished professors who have taught at the best international universities and have been recognized with honors both nationally and internationally, to younger faculty who are producing quality research in unexplored areas, CPPG faculty has expertise in areas including leadership, civil services reforms, CPEC, informal economy, civil-military relations, religious nationalism, extremism & peace building, employability of youth, urban development and more. Further, the faculty boasts professional background in civil services of Pakistan, and as practicing lawyer, development practitioner, and technology consultant before joining the academy.

Dr. Saeed Shafqat

PhD

For recognition of his services in the field of education, culture, research and teaching, he has been awarded Pakistan’s Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Government of France’s Chevalier des Palmes Acade’miques. Dr. Shafqat has previously taught at School of international Affairs and Public Policy (SIPA), Columbia University; College of Wooster, Ohio; and the Civil Services Academy.

Dr. Sikandar Hayat

PhD

Dr. Hayat has been Meritorious Professor and Chair of the Department of History, Quaid-e-Azam University; an Education Counselor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC; and has taught courses at Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo) and Arkansas State University (Jonesboro). He is considered an authority on the Pakistan Movement and has authored three books on the subject.

Dr. Rabia Chaudhry

PhD

Dr. Chaudhry public policy experience is supplemented by years of practicing civil and commercial law in Pakistan’s Higher Courts before completing her PhD form the Centre for Development Research, University of Bonn. Her research interests include civil military relations, institutional reform, and developmental politics, and she has over 10 years of teaching experience.

Research Facilities

CPPG is probably the only policy institution in the country with dedicated research facilities for its students. The Saeed Shafqat Public Policy Resource Centre houses a library with dedicated librarian and support staff to facilitate student research, indoor and outdoor space for students, a meeting room, and dedicated cubes for PhD scholars. CPPG also boasts a state of the art facility for seminars and policy dialogues, a computer lab, and a student lounge. In addition, CPPG students can use all other FCC research facilities.

Being located in the heart of Lahore, CPPG is a breadth away from the seat of government in the Punjab, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, media houses, non- government organizations and universities. Thus, CPPG is able to bring together various policy stakeholders for seminars, dialogues and deliberations on specific policy issues, creating an impetus for policy reforms as well as providing a learning and networking opportunity for our students.
