Mr. Endy Bayuni began his reporting career in 1983. His 31 years career in journalism includes a seven year stint with Reuters and Agence France-Presse (AFP). Currently he is senior editor at the Jakarta Post and has served as its editor in chief (2004 – 2010). He writes columns about Indonesian politics, the evolving political cultures, islam, democracy, foreign affairs, economic development and the changing media landscape. Mr. Bayuni has been involved with organizations including the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) in Indonesia and the Southeast Asia Press Alliance (SEAPA).
He has written for foreign publications including the New York Times, Foreign Policy magazine website, Washington Post/Newsweek Blog and the Straits Times of Singapore. His other main task is in training new journalists and in conducting writing workshops for professionals.
Dr. Shabana Mir holds PhD in Education Policy Studies and Anthropology with a concentration in International Education from Indiana University. Currently she is Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Coordinator of Global Studies at Millikin University, USA. She is author and winner of the outstanding book award for her path breaking ethnographic work Muslim American Women on Campus: Undergraduate Social Life and Identity, published by the University of North Carolina Press.
Dr. Mir has worked as curriculum designer, residence hall director, retreat leader and consultant in a variety of settings. She trains Pakistani women faculty in research methods and is an international public speaker on gender equity.
