Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed received his PhD degree in Political Science from Stockholm University in 1986. He has taught at the Department of Political Science at Stockholm University from 1987-2007. Then he joined the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), National University of Singapore. Currently Dr. Ahmed is a Visiting Professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
His recent publications include Pakistan: The Garrison State, Origins, Evolution, Consequences (1947-2011), Karachi: Oxford University Press 2013; and the Best Non-fiction Award Winner at the Karachi Literature Festival, 2013,The Punjab Bloodied, Partitioned and Cleansed: Unraveling the 1947 Tragedy through Secret British Reports and First-Person Account, Karachi: Oxford University Press, 2012.
