Dr. Sikandar Hayat is currently professor of History and Public Policy, Forman Christian College (A Chartered University). Dr. Hayat holds a Ph D degree in History from Quaid e Azam University, Islamabad. His field of specialization is Modern South Asia particularly Pakistan. He was directing staff at National Management College from 2006- 2013 and also Dean of the National Institute of Public Policy, Lahore. Dr. Hayat joined Quaid e Azam University in 1973 and remained associated for more than three decades till 2006. From 1991-1995 he served as Education Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington D.C, USA.
In 2005, he was selected as “Meritorious Professor” of History and also received American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) Scholar in Residence Award in 1995-96. During this period he taught courses on politics at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo and Arkansas State University, Jonesboro USA. He received the AIPS Lecture Series Award in 1990, 1997 and 2003.
Dr. Hayat has contributed to a number of international journals including the Journal of South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (USA). He has published three books the latest entitled as The Charismatic Leader: Quaid e Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the Creation of Pakistan which received the HEC best book publication award in 2011. Currently Dr. Hayat is working on a biography of Jinnah as part of the Routledge Historical Biographies Series (UK).
